I cut 2 circles and used a gathering stitch to help create the eyes. I stuffed with craft filling and then hand-stitched close with a clear thread. I placed the eyes on the hood of the costume and stitched with clear thread to the hood as well as stitched the eyes of the Cookie Monster costume together. I then bought extra large googly eyes from the craft store and hot-glued them in place. Here is the final DIY Cookie Monster costume.
Here’s the story behind our Cookie Monster costume. My daughter really loves Cookie Monster, so she inspired me to come up with an original costume for her. Wrap the feather boa around the headband. It is not necessary to secure it as it secures itself quite well, but if you want to be safe you can add some hot glue here and there. As an optional extra, you can punch holes on either side of the box and thread through some blue cord, tying the ends on the inside of the box. This allows you to wear the box around your neck like a candy vendor.
