When he was a young man attending Wilson High in Long Beach, Armstrong worked across the street from the water tower, busing tables at Sam’s Seafood. At the time, he daydreamed of scaling the tower and inscribing his name on it. He ended up putting his imprint on the structure in a much more lasting way.
